Precious Violet Jewellery with character and narrative. And soon a very busy, international business was born!

Making jewellery began as a hobby about 12 years ago, although as my mother used to rethread broken vintage and antique beads, some of which are used in my designs, I think there may be something in the genes! Friends then asked me to make items to match particular outfits, as gifts for their friends or relatives, or to remodel or enhance cherished vintage beads that needed a new lease of life. I

ship all over the world for minimum cost, using recycled packaging wherever possible but all pieces are beautifully wrapped and boxed in my signature Precious Violet gift box. I love to create exquisite pieces that make the wearer feel fabulous and will be cherished. I am passionate about sourcing good quality, robust and uncommon 'ingredients' - such as unique hand made lampwork beads by internationally renowned designers such as Emma Ralph, Josephine Wadman, Clare Scott, Rita Bennett, Patricia Ritchie et al. Their beads are tiny works of art in themselves and have to be seen to be appreciated. To complement them I use only Swarovski crystals, gemstones, freshwater and crystal pearls. Fair Trade Karen Hill Tribe silver, 99% pure, is my favourite precious metal but as I like to make my jewellery accessible I am happy to use sterling, vermeil, copper, bronze, brass, or pewter to keep the cost down. Most of my metal findings are hand crafted by my friend Lucy Haslam of Faerystones - her copper is tumbled for strength and given 3 coats of wax to preserve the finish. You can also be reassured that my jewellery is guaranteed for life (mine that is!) - should you catch and break a bracelet or necklace by accident it will be repaired. I have shown my work locally at The Platform Gallery, Clitheroe and in my own group, Design Platform, who held regular artisan markets in the Old Station Heritage Centre, Longridge. Nowadays, I sell almost exclusively via Etsy or my page.

‘Violet’ is named for my beautiful 13 yr old granddaughter, who was just a baby when I began and marks my progress as a designer.

There was a right kerfuffle earlier this afternoon as a sparrowhawk was circling over the trees near the river where the rooks are nesting. Dozens of rooks took to the air to dive bomb the predator and protect their nests and fledglings. What a brilliant sight it was.

The Rookery - striking enamels from Kaz with black brass tree branches and my favourite new hammered black studs. They have sterling silver butterfly backs. Great shapes 🖤

It's Turquoise Tuesday and even though I love the stuff I constantly forget to post something on Tuesdays. So here are some beautiful turquoise slabs, with gold and sparkly beaded cocoons.
Nitta's tiny ceramic moths are emerging into the light.
These are 7.5 cm long and hang on bronze niobium earwires.

I love druzy pieces, every one uniquely different. Tiny ceramic moons by Nitta, matte agate discs, and lovely leopard agate beads. A pair of Lucy's Maze earwires with a beautiful treacly patina that only she could do. Unique earart - you'll not see copies about.
These are 9.5cm long with masses of dangle power, like mobiles for your ears.

Price £39 includes gift wrapping and UK first class postage. International standard post is £4.80 and payment by PayPal invoice.

I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of these stunning ceramics from Peruzzi. They certainly didn't disappoint!
They were specially designed by Natalie for our Salt Path design challenge, inspired by the cover artwork of Angie Lewin.
I didn't want to detract from them by over-designing so simply added these super wave-like carved beads and black copper earwires.
These are 6cm long.

A window on the World; unusual, top end czech glass pairs with today's beautiful, swirling enamels from Kaz, fringed with tiny flower buds waiting to pop in the sun. I've carried on the orange/green theme with green niobium earwires.
